The Accounts Officer – Billing & Revenue supports the end-to-end process from meter reading to customer billing and sundry billing. You will use sound judgement to ensure customers receive accurate and timely meter reads and bills in accordance with strict regulations and policies.


Key Accountabilities

  • Billing & Metering Support: Investigate and verify "out of tolerance" (high/low/duplicate) meter readings and action unrecorded meter changes daily.

  • Integrity Management: Complete bill intercepts (online and manual) weekly and process metering diagnostics within 24 hours of receipt.

  • Special Arrangements: Manage accurate and timely billing for key customers under special contracts and hydrants, ensuring late fees are applied where necessary.

  • Financial Compliance: Complete monthly reconciliations, maintain a suspense account register for unclaimed monies, and handle daily cash uploads to allocate funds accurately.

  • Continuous Improvement: Identify and participate in business efficiency opportunities and lead reviews of work practices to improve productivity.

  • Regulatory Knowledge: Proven ability to understand and interpret relevant Acts, regulations, and policies.

  • Judgement & Decision Making: Demonstrated ability to think clearly and objectively when making complex decisions.

  • Time Management: Strong ability to prioritise work to meet strict billing and reporting deadlines.

Key Stakeholder Relationships

This role works closely with several internal and external groups to ensure service success, including:

  • Customer Care and Growth teams.

  • External meter reading contractors.

  • Metro and regional Field Services.

  • Finance and Payroll departments.


Special Conditions

  • Operational Flexibility: Must be able to work flexible hours and some after-hours as required.

  • Medical & Safety: Requirement to undergo initial and subsequent medical clearances and relevant immunisations.

  • Background Checks: Employment is subject to criminal police, traffic, and Working with Children/Vulnerable People clearances.
